Cummings was an honorable mention Sporting News All-American, first team All-Metro Conference and second team All-Louisiana selection in 1977.  He finished his two-year career as the eleventh leading scorer and sixth leading rebounder in Tulane history, with 1,052 points for a 19.5 average and 625 rebounds for an 11.6 average.  He set school records with 38 career double-double games (points and rebounds) and 27 games of 20 or more points.  He led the Metro Conference in scoring and rebounding in 1977.  He averaged 19.2 points and 12.0 rebounds in 1977, and 19.7 points and 11.1 rebounds in 1976.  His single game scoring high was 33 points.  He was the MVP of the LABC North-South All-Star Game in 1977.
