Blanton was a two-time honorable mention All-American selection. He was also a two-time All-Southeastern Conference and NABC All-District selection, as well as a two-time first team All-Louisiana selection. He was an SEC All-Tournament selection in 1988 and an NCAA Southeast Regional All-Tournament selection in 1986. He finished his career as the eighth leading scorer and tenth leading rebounder in LSU history, with 1,501 points for an 11.6 average and 766 rebounds for a 5.9 average. He also had a 53.2% career field goal percentage, a 72.9% career free throw percentage and 314 career assists. He averaged 20.3 points, 8.2 rebounds and 4.59 assists in 1989, and 17.0 points, 8.8 rebounds and 3.57 assists in 1988. He also had a 40.4% three-point field goal percentage in 1989. He had single game highs of 37 points and 13 rebounds. He helped lead LSU to two 20-win seasons, the SEC championship in 1985 and four NCAA Tournament appearances, including the Final Four in 1986. Following his senior year he played in the NABC All-Star Game. |
